These Golden Rose Buns aren’t just bread — they’re a little piece of edible art. Soft, fluffy, and slightly sweet, each bun hides a creamy custard or cream cheese filling that melts in your mouth. With their gorgeous rose-like shape and golden color, they’re perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a cozy coffee break.
Ingredients
300g all-purpose flour (sifted)
150ml warm milk
50g sugar
1 egg
30g softened butter
7g instant yeast
100g custard or cream cheese (for filling) A pinch of salt
Instructions
1. Activate the Yeast: Warm the milk slightly (don’t overheat it). Add the sugar and yeast, stir gently, and let sit for about 5 minutes until bubbles appear — that means your yeast is alive and ready!
2. Make the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the egg, softened butter, and yeast mixture. Mix and knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
3. First Rise: Cover the dough with a clean towel and let it rest in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
4. Shape the Roses: Once risen, divide the dough into small equal balls. Roll each ball into a circle, then make 4 small cuts toward the center, leaving the middle intact.
5. Add the Filling: Spoon a bit of custard or cream cheese in the center of each circle. Fold the “petals” one by one over the filling to create a beautiful rose shape.
6. Second Rise: Arrange the buns on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
7. Bake: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake the buns for 15–20 minutes, until golden and slightly puffed.
8. Final Touch (optional): Brush them with honey or sprinkle powdered sugar once they cool a bit — for a shiny, irresistible finish.
The Result
Soft, golden, and full of creamy goodness inside — these buns look like roses and taste like heaven. One bite and you’ll fall in love!
