- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (sharp or mild - your call)
- 2 tablespoons butter (plus extra for brushing)
- 1/4 cup milk (whole milk makes it creamier)
- Salt and pepper to taste (be generous!)
- Optional: chopped chives or green onions for garnish
